Fall Editorial

As you pursue this fall 2024 issue of The Group Psychologist, we hope you see the wisdom, talent, and humor present in our contributing authors and in the research reflected in our members. Our Society may be small, but we are mighty.

Dr. Joe Miles highlighted many of our award winners this year, including Dr. Valeriia Palii, President of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine, who was present to accept the special award on behalf of the “Psychologists during the War,” a group of Ukrainian psychologists working with the Division of “Psychoanalytic Psychology and Psychotherapy” of the National Psychological Association of Ukraine. Many other talented psychologists were reflected in the column and we encourage you to read it fully.

We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the passing of a light-hearted pioneer and explorer”, Dr. Andy Horne. Dr. Horne’s warmth, impressive contributions, and mentorship impacted the field widely.

And in looking towards the future, we encourage readers to contemplate with Dr. Tevya Zukor what AI might mean for our field and current limitations of it as applied to group psychotherapy. We’ll close with highlighting another column in this issue, by Dr. David Songo, and his reflections on the influence of group dynamics playing out in this fall’s election in the US.
